VS Code's December Update Teaches Copilot New Skills

The December 2025 release of VS Code 1.108 puts AI agents front and center, introducing experimental Agent Skills that let Copilot load workspace-defined knowledge on demand. Instead of a one-size-fits-all assistant, Copilot can now adapt to your project’s domain, tools, and conventions as you work.

The update also reshapes how chat and agent sessions are managed, while delivering a wide set of quality-of-life improvements across the terminal, source control, accessibility, and everyday edition workflows.

Does teaching your editor new skills feel like the next steps for AI-assisted development, or added complexity?
